Matthew Holbrook PT, DPT, CFMT, ISM certified practitioner, CSCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Certified Functional Manual Therapist™
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Matt graduated from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with his Masters and Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Since that time Matt has been fascinated with the Functional Manual Therapy™ approach. During the first week of August 2011, Matt became one of less than 200 Certified Functional Manual Therapists™ throughout the world. Not only did Matt pass what is arguably the most rigorous exams in high level manual therapy but he did so with distinction, only given to those physical therapists that score better than 94% on the exam. There are currently less than 30 PT’s in the world who hold the distinction honor. In 2018 Matt completed a 9 month mentorship program led by Diane Lee in the Integrative Systems Model in Denver Colorado which opened his eyes to further understand the interconnections of the human body. Matt continues to study with the Barral Institute and has completed their core course work in Visceral Manipulation.
Matt believes that normalization of the efficient state of the body’s joints and all systems is of paramount importance in order to restore full function in his patient’s life. He believes that patients can often times avoid surgical procedures and eliminate many of their medications through proper care and lifestyle modifications. Matt enjoys working with the most challenging patients who have failed in their attempts to be successfully treated within the mainstream medical model. He takes on a very holistic approach and emphasizes the importance of a non-toxic lifestyle. Matt believes that he has something to offer every individual who seeks to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Matt lives in Charlottesville, Virginia with his wife and three children. Matt was an owner of a successful practice for 10 years in New Jersey before deciding to move with his family to Charlottesville. Although it was not an easy decision to leave a practice in NJ that he had started from the ground up, it came down to his personal values and the life he envisioned for his family. Matt and his wife wanted the children to grow up where they could each day be surrounded by nature and enjoy the beauty of the earth. Since Charlottesville was one of the family’s favorite vacation spots, the decision was made. He enjoys living a life that centers around his family. He emphasizes a natural way of living that is active and takes advantage of the natural surroundings. He especially enjoys playing and listening to music, hiking, biking (road and mountain), yoga, gardening, reading everything, traveling especially throughout the beautiful areas of the US and learning as much as he can about health, food and fitness.
